AI System Instructions

Customize how the Ticket Mate AI Assistant behaves and interacts with your team.

Overview

System Instructions (or "System Prompts") are the hidden set of rules that define the personality, language style, and decision-making logic of your AI assistants. By fine-tuning these instructions, you can ensure the AI aligns with your company's specific coding standards and communication tone.

Key Features

1. Persona Definition

Define the "voice" of your assistant.

  • Tone: Choose between "Professional", "Concise", or "Technical".
  • Level of Detail: Instruct the AI to provide exhaustive technical breakdowns or just high-level summaries.

2. Contextual Knowledge

Link your internal documentation to the AI:

  • Design System: Provide links to your component library so the AI suggests existing UI components.
  • Naming Conventions: Instruct the AI to always use specific prefixing for branches or ticket labels.

3. Rule Enforcement

Set explicit constraints on what the AI can and cannot do:

  • "Never suggest a priority higher than 'Medium' for tickets in the 'Backlog'."
  • "Always include a 'Definition of Done' section in stories."

Managing Instructions

  1. Navigate to Admin → AI Settings → Instructions.
  2. Select the specific assistant you want to tune (e.g., "Description Generator").
  3. Edit the System Prompt text field.
  4. Use the Test Console to see how the changes affect the assistant's output on a sample ticket.

Best Practices

  • Be Specific: Instead of saying "Be helpful," say "Provide three actionable acceptance criteria for every user story."
  • Use Examples: Include examples of "Good" vs "Bad" outputs in your prompt to help the AI learn your preferences.
  • Iterate: Regularly review AI outputs and adjust the instructions based on team feedback.
